Account and sync

Create an account and turn on encrypted sync

In short

  • Sign in with an email code, or with Apple or Google.
  • Documents are encrypted on your device before they leave it.
  • Keep your recovery code: it is the only way back in if you lose every device.

Create your account

Open YomuScan or the web app and choose Create your account. Enter your email and the 6-digit code we send you, or continue with Apple or Google. On the setup screens you choose where synced documents live: EU (Frankfurt) or US (Virginia).

What end-to-end encrypted means

Your devices encrypt each document before it is uploaded, and only your devices hold the key. We store the encrypted files and see only details such as file sizes, dates and your account email. See how data moves.

Your recovery code

If you lose every device, the recovery code is the only way to restore your encrypted documents. You save it when you set up sync: we show it once, ask you to download, print or copy it, and ask you to type part of it back before you continue. Keep it offline, for example printed or in a password manager. Only your devices hold the key, so we cannot restore your documents without it.

Devices

See where you are signed in under Account › Security, and sign out of any device from there.
