Where your data lives

In short

  • Scanning, text recognition and redaction run on your device.
  • Synced documents are end-to-end encrypted: only your devices hold the key. We see details such as file sizes, dates and your account email.
  • You can delete your account and synced documents from the app or the web.

On your device

Your documents are stored on your phone. Scanning, text recognition and redaction happen there, so the app does not need to upload a page to read it. See how data moves.

If you use sync

With an account and sync on, each document is encrypted on your device before it is uploaded to the region you chose, EU (Frankfurt) or US (Virginia). We store the encrypted file. We also store your email and how you sign in.

If you use AI

An AI action in Premium AI sends the page you chose to our AI provider. Cloud AI is off until you turn it on, and the app asks before it sends a page.

Ads on the Free plan

The Free plan shows Google ads. Google asks for your choice in its own consent form. If you decline personalised ads you can still see ads, but they are not personalised. Paid plans have no ads.

Erase it

You can delete all data from the app. To remove your account and synced documents too, follow Delete your account.
